For as long I could remember, I’ve never seen Suzuki factory team in the local scene especially Malaysia Superbike Championship (formerly Malaysian Super Series). Perhaps there were in the past but definitely not over the past few years.
2016 MSC will be highlighted with the official Suzuki blue and fluorescent yellow from the factory team. Teaming up with Hiap Aik Motors, the new team will be known as Team Suzuki Hiap Aik Racing (TSHAR).
Khoo Chee Yen and Tee Wei Jin, TSHAR riders were introduced to the press at the same time. Koo will be racing in the Superstock A with #6 bike. and Tee will be racing in the Superstock B with #7 bike.
Khoo has vast experience racing both four wheels and two wheels since year 2004, mostly in Merdeka Millennium Endurance race. In recent years Khoo took part in MSS in Superstock B with a BMW S1000RR.
Tee has been drifting car since 2005. Among the highlighted race would be D1GP that was held in Malaysia back in 2006. In 2012, Tee raced for Team KTM Malaysia and in 2014 Tee raced for Team Hiap Aik Racing with a Kawasaki ZX10R.
Safety of the riders was ensured by both Shark and Furygan with a customised helmet and racing suit powered by D30 technology. According to Ron, General Manager of Winmaster Sdn Bhd, the sole distributor of both Shark and Furygan, the riders is protected by Shark Race R Pro, a full carbon fiber helmet which is used in the Moto2 and MotoGP and the Furygan Full Apex suit was tailor made by Furygan’s factory in France.
1976 Barry Sheene clinched the world title in the 500cc class started the Suzuki long list of great achievements. Among them, Marco Lucchinelli won the 500cc world championship in 1981, Kevin Schwantz won the 500cc worl championship in 1993, Kenny Roberts Jr, 2 consecutive win in Malaysian GP in 2000, countless victories in World SBK from 2005. Most recent, Suzuki returns to MotoGP in 2015.
