Suzuki Malaysia officially launch Suzuki V-Strom 800DE and Suzuki GSX-8S today in the heart of the city of Kuala Lumpur. The highly anticipated event is graced by the very person who launch both of the said models at the recent EICMA in Milan; Mr. Akira Kyuji, the General Manager of Suzuki Japan. Both bikes were unveiled together by En. Ahmad Faez Bin Tan Sri Yahaya, Group Executive Chairman; Dato’ Wee Hong, Chairman of Malaysia Motorcycle and Scooter Dealers Association; Dato’ Jeffrey Lim, Group Managing Director; and Mr Leong Kam Yew, Senior Sales Manager.
Suzuki V-Strom 800DE price tag is set at RM60,800.00 while Suzuki GSX-8S is set at RM50,800.00. Both models shared the same engine; all-new 776 cc DOHC 4-stroke liquid-cooled parallel twin with Suzuki Cross Balancer system and 270-degree crankshaft. The V-Strom 800DE produces 84 horsepower while the GSX-8S produces 83 horsepower, 1 horsepower lesser which will not make any difference to the average daily rider.
The DNA of the V-Strom 800DE is mainly targeting adventure and off road rider and which is why it comes with wire-spoked aluminium wheels; a 21-inch front rim paired with an 18-inch rear rim both shod with semi-block pattern Dunlop Trailmax Mixtour tyres. As what off-roader preferred, it comes with a tube tyre.
On the other hand, the GSX-8S is targeting daily rider in the urban area which is also why it comes in a smaller package, in line with Suzuki’s growth strategy towards 2030 by operating under the principle of manufacturing “Sho-Sho-Kei-Tan-Bi (Smaller, Fewer, Lighter, Shorter, Beauty).
Both models is now available at authorized dealers nationwide.
