Ducati has given us the first taste of its prototype electric race bike nicknamed the “V21L”. This will be the bike that will compete in the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup starting in 2023, and Ducati is the series’s sole bike supplier. So yeah, you can say that this is a special occasion.

It’s very ‘Ducati’ of them to simply jump into the world of electric motorcycle racing rather than develop a road-working platform first, but the Borgo Panigale manufacturer has always been pushing the boundaries when it comes to the world of motorcycling.

This time around, the video showcased former MotoGP rider, Alex De Angelis, taking the bike out for a spin at the Vallelunga track not too far from Rome, Italy. From our POV, we can see that the prototype rips around the circuit like a MotoGP bike plus a soundtrack that is honestly very exciting to hear.

We also know that Ducati is focusing all of its might to develop a race-worthy electric bike with high performance, lightweight (just look at all of the carbon fibre fairings), and ergonomically balanced before it arrives on the racing grid in 2023. 2023 is going to be an interesting year for Ducati and MotoGP’s electric race class.
