Didi Group, the official distributor of Aprilia bikes here in Malaysia, has finally brought in the third 660cc middleweight model, the 2022 Aprilia Tuareg 660.
The third rendition of Aprilia’s 660cc platform is seen as one of the more robust models due to its adventure styling and rugged design. It’s also one of a few bikes in the market that can handle everyday riding scenarios comfortably as well as some hardcore off-road riding if owners are feeling brave.
Following the RS 660 and Tuono 660, Aprilia kept its ethos of a lightweight yet high-performing machine that’s fun to ride on any occasion. Its 660cc parallel-twin engine is basically an Aprilia’s 1,100cc V4 engine cut in half (similar 81mm bore size) which produces 80hp @ 8,250rpm and 70Nm of torque (75% of that torque is readily available from 3,000rpm).
Even its entire frame structure was designed to cope with heavier riding stresses compared to the RS 660 and Tuono 660. Things like the subframe being welded to the frame, reinforced structure solidarity with six anchor points (the RS and Tuono only have three), and longer double-arm aluminium swingarm mean that the Tuareg 660 should be able to take hit after hit, even in the toughest off-road conditions.
Other noteworthy specs include a fully-adjustable 43mm KYB front fork & rear shock (both 240mm travel), dual front 300mm discs with Brembo calipers, single rear 260mm disc also with Brembo caliper, spoke aluminium wheels (21-inch front, 18-inch rear), 18-litre fuel tank, 204kg kerb weight, plus more.
Electronic-wise, the Tuareg 660 also comes with the latest APRC package which includes Aprilia’s Traction Control, Cruise Control, Engine Brake, Engine Map, Quick Shift (up and down), multi-map ABS, four Riding Modes, and the MIA multimedia phone connectivity.
For those who are interested, the MY22 Aprilia Tuareg 660 is priced at RM75,900 (excluding insurance, road tax, and registration). Three colours are up for grabs (based on availability since these are CBU models) which are Indaco Tagelmust, Martian Red, and Acid Gold.
