Bangkok, Thailand – 24 March 2015 – The opening of the Bangkok International Motorshow today saw Ducati present three of their latest models to the Thai public plus a superb Limited Edition 899 Panigale appropriately unveiled by three-times World Superbike Champion, Troy Bayliss. Only a very small number of the Ducati 899 Panigale Superbike Team Limited Edition models will be prepared for the Thai market only, in celebration of the first ever round of the World Superbike Championship in Buriram, Thailand.
The Ducati 899 Panigale Superbike Team Limited Edition sports the Aruba.it Racing Ducati Superbike Team colour scheme and sponsors’ logos in addition to a list of accessory enhancements and Akrapovic exhaust system (for racing use only).
Paolo Ciabatti (Ducati Corse Sporting Director and MotoGP Project Manager) took pleasure in unveiling the 1299 Panigale for the first time in Thailand.
“The 1299 Panigale takes the very latest technologies from our race development programs and delivers it in the most spectacular and intelligent way,” explained Paolo Ciabatti. “Spectacular because of its 205hp and 10% more torque in a vehicle package that weighs just 166.5kg, and intelligent because its incredible electronics package is now increased to include Ohlins Smart EC suspension, Cornering ABS, Ducati Wheelie Control and Ducati Quick Shift for both up and down gear shifting. The 1299 Panigale is, without doubt, our highest-performance Superbike ever, but it’s also the easiest to ride with some of the most effective and innovative rider-aids ever developed.”
Ducati’s brand new Multistrada 1200 S also made its Thai debut at the show. Continuing its original concept, the brand new model is enhanced with some of Ducati’s latest technologies as Pierfrancesco Scalzo (Ducati Asia General Manager – Sales & Marketing) explained:
“The Multistrada 1200’s 4-bikes-in-1 concept was a game-changer when it was first released in 2010. Now in 2015, its next generation takes the model to a new level,” said Mr.Scalzo. “We really believe in the Multistrada concept and in the new model we focussed on four main pillars: Design, Safety, Performance and User-Friendliness. Its overall redesign has created smoother, more sophisticated styling lines right down to its full LED lighting. Safety has been further enhanced, not only with cornering ABS, but also with cornering lights, enabling an innovative improvement to riding in all conditions. In performance, the Multistrada introduces the new Ducati Testastretta DVT engine with Desmodromic Variable Timing providing 160hp of capable, long-distance power with the advantage of super-smooth engine operation at low speed and fluid power delivery, ideal for urban environments and riding with a passenger. User-friendliness can be found everywhere on this motorcycle: From illuminated switchgear and full-colour TFT instrumentation, which is Bluetooth integrated with the rider’s smartphone, to the next generation Skyhook suspension, which reacts to every road condition, and a confidence-inspiring adjustable seat height, we have – once again – set a new benchmark in this category.”
General Manager of the Ducati Thailand Importer, Apichat Leenutaphong, unveiled the Ducati Monster 821, the exciting new member of the Monster family. Introduced as the premium naked motorcycle, the latest Monster carries the same charisma that has made the model an icon of motorcycling style and now introduces new levels of technology to the family that not only enhance safety, but also the entire riding and ownership experience. The new super-smooth, water-cooled engine with adjustable riding modes complements the user-friendliness of features like the adjustable seat height and revised ergonomics.
